Evening walk on Schiermonnikoog
Meander along through the prettiest alleys in the village and the most beautiful paths through the dunes on the way to the ‘burning’ lighthouse. Get ready for this exciting walk and be amazed at what the Wadden island of Schiermonnikoog has to offer at nightfall.
A tour guide will take you on a two-hour hike through the natural landscape, telling you all about the island’s history. Make sure to bring good walking shoes and warm clothes, and Schiermonnikoog will offer up stunning dynamic landscapes, sweet smelling flowers, pristine views, more than 300 bird species, and a huge wealth of rare plants. The island has been an independent National Park since 1989 for a reason. Find out why for yourself!
Schiermonnikoog is the fifth in the line of Dutch islands in the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Each of these islands boasts an impressive cultured landscape with overlapping features as well as many unique properties. If you want to discover them and go island-hopping for a few days, don’t forget to read the blog post ‘Seven special ways to spend the night in the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site’.
It goes without saying that the RIVM guidelines are observed during the excursion. Please consult the Natuurmonumenten website for current rules.
