Historic Pentecost Cruise
A weekend filled with adventure
You will board the clipper Active in the port city of Harlingen on Friday evening, where a welcome cocktail, private cabin and freshly made bed await. After getting to know the other guests and crew, the program begins. There is some time to explore Harlingen in the evening as the ship sails the next morning. You’ll sail towards the Wadden Islands through tidal trenches and past sandbanks on which seals bask in the sun. Along the way, you’ll enjoy good food, excellent drinks, and a fantastic sailing experience. You’ll arrive in the port of Vlieland at the end of the afternoon, giving you the opportunity to explore beautiful dune landscapes, beaches, and the idyllic village of Oost-Vlieland. Back on the ship, cocktails will be served while you catch up with your fellow travelers before an excellent dinner is served.
Pentecost beauty
On Whit Sunday, the ship departs for West-Terschelling. You’ll sail through the Vliestroom – the channel between Vlieland and Terschelling – and along the Richel and Gronden van Stortemelk, to ultimately explore another island: Terschelling. Another beautiful sailing route is on the schedule on the last day, back towards the continent. When Harlingen’s skyline starts to rise up out of the sea, you’ll feel like you had a long and relaxing holiday. A special journey, sailing along with the rhythm of the tides, driven by the wind, surrounded by the most beautiful nature reserve in northern Europe: the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. What more could you possibly want?!
Solid meals and snacks are served throughout the weekend. The cruise’s definitive route is determined at the last moment in line with up-to-date weather expectations. For more information, please visit the Historische Zeilvaart Harlingen page.
