Walk along the banks of Lauwersmeer lake and over several dikes, including the sea dike with its view of Schiermonnikoog, one of the Wadden islands. Along the way, you’ll get to admire agricultural fields, the sea, woods, dikes, fishing villages, and tourist attractions. Rondje Lauwersmeer, or the Lauwersmeer Tour, is an extraordinary and varied route through one of the Netherlands’ most beautiful nature reserves.

Bird paradise on former seabed
Almost everything is about birds in and around Lauwersmeer lake, because they are what makes this national park an irresistible wilderness for bird and nature lovers alike. You’ll spot the greatest variety of birds in spring and fall during the migration period. You’ll find several bird-watching huts and observation points along the way. What birds will you see?

You can get the stamp card via www.rondjelauwersmeer.nl. Of course, you can also walk or cycle the route at other times of the year but there is a risk some of the stamp locations may be closed.
