Wadden hiking to Schiermonnikoog | CANCELED
While the hike is mainly across hard sand, we highly recommend wearing a pair of well-fitting hiking shoes or boots as you will be crossing prielen (narrow creeks), ditches, and mud fields. At the end of your hike across the bottom of the Wadden Sea, you will take a break on a terrace on Schiermonnikoog to enjoy a well-earned drink. There will also be time to explore the area. At the end of the tour, you will be taken back to the mainland by boat and back to Groningen by bus.
Duration: +/- 9 hours
(there is a small chance the tour may be cancelled due to weather, tide or lightning)
Schiermonnikoog is well known for its peace and quiet, but also for the many activities available. The entire island is a National Park, so you are surrounded by nature wherever you go. You can explore the salt marshes, endless beaches and beautiful dunes on foot, by bike or by boat. In addition to many nature activities, the island also hosts a range of (cultural) festivities. It is an island with many faces. Let go of your worries and dance to the songs of birds on this smallest island in the Dutch Wadden Sea.
Spending the night!
Would you like to explore the island further outside the day tour? There are several great accommodations where you can spend the night on Schiermonnikoog, for example Hotel Duinzicht. This hotel has a unique location surrounded by dunes and forests and is just a 10- minute walk from the beach.
