Winter Walk on Tiengemeten

There is plenty of water on Natuureiland Tiengemeten, a nature island, which draws many birds in the cold months, such as tufted ducks, European wigeons, and common teals. There is a good chance you’ll spot a special species at the kommoeras or valley marsh, for instance the common snipe or green sandpiper. If you want to learn more about birds on Tiengemeenten in the winter season, join the birding guide for an educational winter walk on the beautiful nature island in National Park NLdelta.

The island is a favorite spot for birds throughout the year. During last year’s winter count, as many as 12,000 birds were counted, representing 62 species.

Watch and learn

While walking along the marsh, a birding guide will tell you all about the birds spotted along the way. You will make regular stops to learn more about all the different species. Make sure to bring your binoculars so you won’t miss anything. You may the lucky one to see the colorful common kingfisher zoom across the water.
